OUR CORE VALUES
Everyone is welcome into the life and leadership of our congregation. All are welcome regardless of skin color, ethnic origin, age, gender, marital status, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability, economic condition, or any particular element that makes us human. We honor your presence.
We support each person’s unique, lifelong search for meaning. We have more questions than answers and trust that God is present as we wrestle with them. We express and experience the Holy in a variety of ways.
Jesus models for us a life of extravagant love for all, and solidarity with the poor, the hungry, and the outcast. We have courage to do justice.
Mindful of God’s bountiful creation, we use our resources with both thrift and generosity, always trying to balance our internal and external priorities.
We experience the Holy in our leadership, women, men, youth, and children. Together we comfort, celebrate, and challenge one another.
WHAT WE DO
Working to transform our society to help the poor, the oppressed and “the least of these” in our world;
Honor each other’s differences and diversity in an environment of grace and acceptance. Providing nurture and empowerment to each of our members in our internal ministry, and doing acts of mercy in our external ministry; and
By expecting the Holy Spirit to speak new things to us, to other people, and to each generation, offering traditional and alternative Christian perspectives in education and worship, and encouraging continual dialogue and spiritual growth.
STATEMENT OF INCLUSIVENESS
WE ENTHUSIASTICALLY INVITE OTHERS TO JOIN US!
Membership at the Presbyterian Church of the Apostles is a commitment to following the ways of Jesus by participating in a community that cares for one another, works for peace, strives for justice, and seeks to create wholeness for humanity. It is not a proclamation of a particular creed or dogma, but a willingness to join our community on a journey of faith. Discovery classes are held 2-3 times a year. Please contact the church office for more information.
The Session is the governing body of The Presbyterian Church of the Apostles. It is comprised of the pastor and elected elders. The Session is charged with providing for the physical, educational, spiritual, and financial life of Apostles Church. Each elder is responsible for specific areas in the life of Apostles. The Session meetings are held on the fourth Thursday of each month and are generally open to the congregation. Contact the pastor with any questions. There are also many committees that support the church and the Session. Such committees include Worship, Personnel, Christian Education, Growth, Administration, and Compassionate Justice.
