Our ministry to and with youth

Our intention is to engage youth in discovering, developing and deploying their God-given gifts to support the larger mission and ministry of the church. We seek to engage youth in the leadership and implementation of our youth ministry activities and we see parents as the primary faith-shapers of our youngest members. We desire to surround youth with a web of caring adults who nurture them, affirm them, pray for them and partner in ministry with them. We are charged with creating an atmosphere where youth are valued, celebrated and sought out for the many gifts they to offer the church and their community.

Youth have many opportunities to grow in their faith and become equipped for service to others.  On Sunday mornings, classes are held at 10:45am which use the interactive Akaloo curriculum.  On Wednesdays, dozens of youth participate in the TLC featuring concepts and resources from Logos Systems Associates. We offer confirmation classes each year and also engage youth in retreats sponsored by Presbyterian Clearwater Forest Bible Camp.

You'll find that many of our youth event are related to serving others.  Throughout the year, youth serve meals to homeless guests at Simpson Shelter, prepare meals for Feed My Starving Children which go primarily to third-world countries, help build homes with Habitat For Humanity and will be working with Youthworks this summer at Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.  Youth also participate in the AIDS Walk, and are active in a variety of environmental projects.

We invite all members to share their gifts and their faith stories with our youth and build significant relationships with them.  We view you as valuable resource to help youth find their calling in life and to life of service to others.  Please view our list of upcoming events, our links and downloads page featuring consent forms, event flyers and helpful resources, as well as our online photo albums featuring the following 2007 events: Confirmation, Michigan Ski Trip, summer Workcamp. There's also a special page for our leaders which provides tools and resources to equip and support those who care for and mentor our youth. Please don't hesitate to call me if you have any questions about our ministry to and with youth.
